Air Force Base Honor Guard Military Funeral Honors Areas of Responsibility

Please note the areas of responsibility for any services you are preparing for that are Air Force Veterans and you are needing Military Funeral Honors. All is needed from the family is a DD-214 verifying honorable service. The AFB do not provide flags, but you can obtain a burial flag for free from a post office by filling out a form and providing a DD-214. More information is provided via the following link:

MFH differ between Veterans and Retirees. A “Veteran” within the definition of MFH’s, is someone who didn’t retire which typically means they served less than 20 years. A “Retiree” is someone who did 20 or more years. Funerals for Veterans is a two-man flag fold and the playing of taps. Funerals for retirees is pallbearing (if applicable, and if the family desires it), a two-man flag fold, playing of taps, and a firing party.

Funerals are a top priority and your designated Air Force Base will do everything they can to ensure that all Air Force members receive the MFH’s they deserve. They do prefer as much notice as possible, but even if a small amount of notice is given, they will prioritize the services.

If you need to arrange MFH’s for Veterans/Retirees from other services, please reference the below link for contact information:
