BILL UPDATES:

April 30, 2019

SB 1245 (vital records; death certificates; intern licensees) was voted on and approved in the Senate. It has been sent to the Governor to sign off on.

April 25, 2019

SB 1245 (vital records; death certificates; intern licensees) was read for a third time in the House. It was approved 57-0.

March 21, 2019

SB 1245 (Death Certificate Bill) has been amended to include the provisions of HB 2188 (Funeral Director Internship Bill). It has gone through House Rules and is awaiting scheduling for Committee of the Whole and then Third Read in the House. Since it was amended in the House it will have to go back to Senate for another vote.
HB 2188 was used as a vehicle for another bill relating to ride sharing. An amendment was added to the bill which removed all language relating to funeral issues. HB 2188 no longer applies to our interests.

Sb 1245 passed the Senate 30-0. It’s going to the House now.

SB 1245 has gone through Senate COW and will be voted on this week or next.

February 6, 2019

SB1245 Vital Records passed the Senate Health Committee today by a vote of 7-0. The bill will be going to Rules next and then to the floor.

January 31, 2019: 

AFCCA Board Members met with Colby Bower and Crystal Coburn at the Department of Health.  During the meeting, all delegates agreed that the best course of action would be to move forward with a fix in SB 1245.  Under section A, we are adding “or in person”.

The bill is scheduled for a hearing in Senate Health, Wednesday February 6th at 9am in Senate Hearing Room 1.
