Arizona’s July 21st primary saw roughly 1.14 million ballots cast statewide. Early and mail-in ballots made up the large majority of that total, with over 800,000 ballots cast before Election Day.

Executive
Governor: Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs will face Republican Congressman Andy Biggs in the general election. Also appearing on the ballot will be Green Party nominee Risa Lombardo and No Labels nominee Teri Ann Hourihan. Biggs won the Republican primary with more than 73% of the vote, while Congressman David Schweikert received less than 15%. Surprising to many, millionaire Hugh Lytle with No Labels failed to garner the votes to make it to November’s general election despite spending almost $1M.
Secretary of State: Democratic Secretary of State Adrian Fontes faces Republican State Representative Alexander Kolodin in November. Green Party nominee Duwayne Collier will also appear on the ballot. Kolodin secured the Republican nomination over Gina Swoboda by nearly 20%.
Attorney General: Democratic Attorney General Kris Mayes faces Republican Senate President Warren Petersen in November. Petersen secured the Republican nomination over Rodney Glassman with a lead of about 13%.
Superintendent of Public Instruction: In the Republican primary, State Treasurer Kimberly Yee defeated incumbent Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne by a nearly 7% lead. She will advance to the November election to face Democratic nominee Teresa Ruiz.
State Treasurer: With State Treasurer Kimberly Yee vacating the office, the Treasurer’s race was open for the first time since 2018. Elijah Norton led in the Republican primary over Katherine Haley by over 12% and faces Democrat Nick Mansour and No Labels nominee Michael Zepeda in November.
State Mine Inspector: Republican Walter Presmyk and Democrat Brian Matlock were both unopposed in their primaries and faces each other in November.
Corporation Commission: State Representative Ralph Heap and Commissioner Kevin Thompson advanced from the Republican primary and faces Democratic nominees Clara Pratte and Jonathan Hill in November. Incumbent Commissioner Nicholas Myers ultimately placed third in the Republican primary and will not appear on the November ballot.
Legislative
LD 1 (Prescott / Sedona): In the Senate, Republican Senator Mark Finchem was unopposed in the primary; Democrat Christine Dargon will be his November opponent. In the House, Republican Representatives Selina Bliss and Quang Nguyen advanced from the primary, with Democrat Sandy Zalecki on the November ballot
LD 2 (North Phoenix): Republican Senator Shawnna Bolick won her primary with more than 70% of the vote and advances alongside Democratic nominee Amelia Gallitano. In the House, Democratic Representative Stephanie Simacek and Republican Representative Justin Wilmeth were both unopposed in their primaries. Wilmeth will share the Republican ticket with Paul Carver, who qualified for the ballot after a successful write-in campaign that earned 1,467 votes.
LD 3 (North Scottsdale / Fountain Hills): Republican Senator John Kavanagh won his primary with roughly 85% of the vote and advances alongside Democratic nominee Jeffrey Fortney. In the House, appointed Representative Cody Reim and George Khalaf secured the Republican nomination, joining Democrats Julie Gable and Rick Spargo.
LD 4 (Scottsdale / Arcadia / Paradise Valley): Republican Senator Carine Werner and former Representative Aaron Lieberman were both unopposed in their respective primaries. In the House, Representatives Pamela Carter and Matt Gress secured the Republican nomination, while Tammy Caputi and Karen Gresham won the Democratic nomination. With Democrats, Republicans, and Independents each making up roughly one-third of registered voters, LD4 remains one of Arizona’s most competitive swing districts.
LD 5 (Central Phoenix): Former Senator Christine Marsh (D) was unopposed in the primary and advances alongside Independent Jason LaForest. Representatives Sarah Liguori and Aaron Márquez were also unopposed and are set to return to the House, with no Republican challengers.
LD 6 (Northern Arizona): Former House and Senate member Jamescita Peshlakai won the Democratic Senate primary, defeating Representative Myron Tsosie by nearly 9%. In the House, Representative Mae Peshlakai and Ian Teller secured the Democratic nomination. No Republicans are running in LD6.
LD 7 (Northern Arizona): Republican Senator Wendy Rogers was unopposed in the primary and advances alongside Democratic nominee Michiel Montiel. In the House, Representative Walt Blackman and former Representative David Cook secured the Republican nomination, while Samuel Martin is the Democratic nominee.
LD 8 (Tempe / South Scottsdale / East Mesa): Senator Lauren Kuby won the Democratic primary over former Representative Deborah Nardozzi and is unopposed in the general election. In the House, Representatives Brian Garcia and Janeen Connolly secured the Democratic nomination, while Donald Hawker is the Republican nominee.
LD 9 (Mesa): Senator Kiana Sears (D) and Republican Bridget Fitzgibbons were both unopposed in their primaries. In the House, Representative Lorena Austin and Jacob Martinez secured the Democratic nomination, while Bradley Bettencourt is the Republican nominee.
LD 10 (East Valley): Republican Senator David Farnsworth was unopposed in the primary and advances alongside Democrat Blair Moses. In the House, James Rogers and Representative Justin Olson defeated Ciara Anderson in the Republican primary, while Helen Hunter and Brian Calaway secured the Democratic nomination.
LD 11 (South Phoenix): Democratic Senator Catherine Miranda advances alongside Republican Joshua Ayala. In the House, Representatives Oscar De Los Santos and Junelle Cavero were unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Cesar Aleman and Joseph Dailey secured the Republican nomination.
LD 12 (South Phoenix / Ahwatukee): Representative Patty Contreras secured the Democratic nomination for the Senate after running unopposed in the primary, while Anthony Ramirez is the No Labels nominee. In the House, Representative Stacey Travers and Armando Montero secured the Democratic nomination, while David Richardson is the Republican nominee.
LD 13 (Chandler / Queen Creek): House Majority Whip Julie Willoughby secured the Republican nomination for the Senate after running unopposed in the primary. Democrat Kristie O’Brien is the Democratic nominee. In the House, former Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke and Janet Weninger won the three-way Republican primary, while Racquel “Rockee” Armstrong and Jacob Weinberg secured the Democratic nomination.
LD 14 (Queen Creek): Mylie Biggs was unopposed in the Republican Senate primary, while Stephanie Walsh secured the Democratic nomination. In the House, Tyler Farnsworth and Representative Laurin Hendrix won the Republican primary over Jedidiah Lyons, while Mary Rose is the Democratic nominee.
LD 15 (East Valley): Republican Senator Jake Hoffman was unopposed in the primary and is running unopposed in November. Republican Representatives Neal Carter and Michael Way also were unopposed in the primary and will run unopposed in the November election as well.
LD 16 (Casa Grande / Pinal County): Republican Senator T.J. Shope was unopposed in the primary, while Elaine Aldrete is the Democratic nominee. Representatives Teresa Martinez and Chris Lopez were also unopposed in the Republican primary, while Julia Gusse secured the Democratic nomination.
LD 17 (Pima County / Tucson): Chris King won the Republican Senate primary with more than 60% of the vote, while Edgar Soto secured the Democratic nomination. In the House, Representative Rachel Keshel and John Winchester secured the Republican nomination, while Representative Kevin Volk and Holly Lyon won the Democratic primary.
LD 18 (North / East Tucson): Senator Priya Sundareshan was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Douglas Everett secured the Republican nomination. In the House, Representatives Chris Mathis and Nancy Gutierrez were also unopposed, while Bob Dohse is the Republican nominee.
LD 19 (Southeastern Arizona): Representative Gail Griffin was unopposed in the Republican Senate primary, while Ryan Slawson secured the Democratic nomination. In the House, Senator David Gowan and Representative Lupe Diaz secured the Republican nomination, while Jackie O’Donnell and Aiden Swallow won the Democratic primary.
LD 20 (Central Tucson): Representative Alma Hernandez defeated challenger Roque Perez in the Democratic primary for the Senate seat. The House Democratic primary was won by Senator Sally Ann Gonzales and Representative Betty Villegas. They all will run unopposed in the November election.
LD 21 (South Tucson / Sahuarita): Senator Rosanna Gabaldon was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Esteban Flores secured the Republican nomination. In the House, Representative Consuelo Hernandez and Miranda Lopez defeated incumbent Representative Stephanie Stahl Hamilton and Maritza Higuera in the Democratic primary. Christopher Kibbey is the Republican nominee.
LD 22 (West Valley): Democratic Senator Eva Diaz was unopposed in the primary and has no Republican challenger in the general. Incumbent Democratic Representative Elda Luna-Najera and Betsy Munoz won the five-way House primary and also have no challengers in the November election.
LD 23 (Yuma to West Valley): Democratic Senator Brian Fernandez and Republican Michelle Altherr both advanced unopposed in their primaries. Democratic Representative Mariana Sandoval and Emilia Cortez won the House primary and Republican Representative Michele Pena and Gary Snyder won the Republican primary.
LD 24 (West Valley): Senator Analise Ortiz was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Frank Steele secured the Republican nomination. In the House, Alberto Flores and Lisbeth Arrecurenaga won the four-way Democratic primary, defeating incumbent Representative Lydia Hernandez and Rose Cantu. Delores McLaughlin is the Republican nominee.
LD 25 (West Valley): Senator Tim Dunn was unopposed in the Republican primary, while Laura Huber secured the Democratic nomination. In the House, Representatives Michael Carbone and Nick Kupper were also unopposed, while Tiffany Byrne is the Democratic nominee.
LD 26 (Glendale): Senator Flavio Bravo was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Jim Bishop secured the Republican nomination. In the House, Representatives Cesar Aguilar and Quanta Crews were also unopposed, while Frank Roberts and Jonathan McKenna secured the Republican nomination. Green Party nominee Hector Gomez will also appear on the general election ballot.
LD 27 (West Valley): Senator Kevin Payne defeated former Senator Anthony Kern by 302 votes in one of the closest Republican primaries of the cycle. Democrat Kyle Clayton secured his party’s nomination. In the House, Representatives Lisa Fink and Tony Rivero advanced from the Republican primary, while Deborah Howard is the Democratic nominee
LD 28 (Peoria / Sun City): Senator Frank Carroll was unopposed in the Republican primary, while Michael Braun secured the Democratic nomination. In the House, incumbents David Livingston and Beverly Pingerelli defeated challenger Heather Rooks in the Republican primary. Barbara Fike and Marc Graham are the Democratic nominees.
LD 29 (Northwest Maricopa County): Senator Janae Shamp was unopposed in the Republican primary, while Eric Stafford secured the Democratic nomination. In the House, Representatives Steve Montenegro and Joseph Taylor were also unopposed, while Christine Scianna is the Democratic nominee.
LD 30 (Mohave County): Representative Leo Biasiucci was unopposed in the Republican Senate primary. In the House, Mike Gannuscio and David Rose emerged from a five-way Republican primary, while Brian McMahan secured the Democratic nomination.
Federal
CD 1: Former Arizona Cardinals kicker Jay Feely won the Republican primary over former Representative Joseph Chaplik and John Trobough. On the Democratic side, former Representative Dr. Amish Shah defeated Marlene Galan-Woods, Jonathan Treble, and Rick McCartney to secure the nomination. Libertarian Monica Alponte will also appear on the ballot.
CD 2: Congressman Eli Crane was unopposed in the Republican primary. Jonathan Nez secured the Democratic nomination, while Curtis Goodwin is the Libertarian nominee.
CD 3: Incumbent Representative Yassamin Ansari (D) and No Labels candidate Alan Aversa each advance to the November ballot without a primary challenge.
CD 4: Incumbent Representative Greg Stanton secured the Democratic nomination with 62% of the vote, defeating challenger Kai Newkirk. Dr. Zuhdi Jasser is the Republican nominee, while Tisha Benoit will represent No Labels.
CD 5: Former Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb won the Republican primary over challenger Daniel Keenan with roughly 58% of the vote in a very controversial primary. Elizabeth Lee is the Democratic nominee.
CD 6: Incumbent Congressman Juan Ciscomani (R) advances alongside Democratic nominee Joanna Mendoza and Libertarian Jereme Peters. This race is considered the most likely to flip in November.
CD 7: After winning a special election earlier this year following the passing of her father, Raúl Grijalva, incumbent Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva (D) advances alongside Republican Daniel Francis Butierez Sr.
CD 8: Incumbent Republican Congressman Abe Hamadeh was unopposed in the primary. Bernadette Greene-Placentia is the Democratic nominee.
CD 9: Incumbent Congressman Paul Gosar (R) was unopposed in the Republican primary, while Danielle Sterbinsky secured the Democratic nomination.
