Thank you to all who attended the 2018 AFCCA Maintenance Seminar, we hope you all had a great time and learned something new.
A special thank you to Dan Salter and Dylan Lamere with Sunland Memorial Park who hosted the event and worked so hard to put together educational presentations, invite new vendors and sponsored our delicious lunch with Wild Bunch Catering!
We would also like to thank Steve Handley with Handley Precast for sponsoring breakfast for the group.
Attendees learned about Turf Management on a Budget by Shane Powell with Crop Production Services. Art Bias, SCI Human Resource Director, spoke on Employee Management Procedures. Steve Handley demonstrated the “Handley Graveside Set-Up”, the PERFECT graveside set up. And finally Dave Walker and Dylan Lamere from Dignity Memorial gave tips on making sure you open up the right spot every time.
The Backhoe Rodeo was new and improved this year, albeit more difficult. The competition was fierce and it was entertaining to watch a perfect 360 circle be completed in a backhoe by the competitors. First place in the competition went to Raul Villadares with Valley of the Sun
Mortuary & Cemetery!
The invention competition had two participants this year. Paul Canisales with Paradise Memorial Gardens took first place with his invention of a marker rack for storage at their cemetery.
Second place went to Ricardo Pina with Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery who brought in a train he created to use for community events. No, no one rode the train, although we did try.
We are looking forward to the next Cemetery Maintenance Seminar in 2019! Hope to see everyone back!
